Module 4 - Introduction to Email Class Script
The purpose of this session is to introduce the student to the Email application. The screen reader application. NVDA, is used to demonstrate and teach the basic Email functions . The following will be introduced and discussed:
- Emphasize that learning to type is an absolute necessity.
- Learning the NVDA screen reader and how to navvigate the desktop using NVDA.
- Familiarize the student of the basic functions of Outlook Express.

Use Outlook with Google Gmail. Setting up pop3 and smtp http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA011488981033.aspx
Approach
- The demonstration will not involve “Hands-On”.
- Teach the basics of how a screen reader Non Visual Desktop Access(NVDA) navigates the Windows desktop.
- Execute Outlook Express as one would normally.
- Check the inbox
- Select an email
- Read who it is from and the test.
- Exit back to the inbox and select another.

Scipt
Load NVDA
- Windows key+m, tab, then space bar brings up start menu.
- ArrowDown to NVDA and hit enter
- Notes
- ins-q exits NVDA, ctrl key stops speech
- (ins+m) to turn off speech over rollover
- (ins+q) exits NVDA
Starting to Outlook
- (Windows key+m), Tab keystrokesSpace bar brings up the start menu, (Down arrow) to Outlook Express task and hit enter.
- Notes
- Do a help->contents and “keystrokes” to show outlook shortcuts.
Reading Email
- Once entered, hit (ctrl+i) for the “inbox”.
- It reads the last message and subject line. You can ArrorUp to the next message. Hit enter on any of the messages.
- Tab one (it says rich text”), then ins+ArrowwDown to say the message.
Replying to an Eamil
- (ctrl+r) brings up the reply window)
(Need to know how to switch Outlook Panels or the shortcut for reply)
Composing a new email
- Composing an EmailAt inbox, hit (ctrl+n)
- You will be placed at the to: line. Each tab will bring you to the next lin.
- Hit (ctrl+enter) to send the email
